The best pizza toppings can enhance your pizza in a number of ways.  You can customize your delicious pizza with whatever topping you are in the mood for. Some toppings are more popular than others and some pizza topping choices are a point of contention amongst pizzas fanatics (I’m looking at you, pineapple).

But what are the most popular pizza toppings? You can probably name a few off the top of your head. According to the Huffington Post, the top 4 pizza toppings voted by Americans are:

2. Sausage
3. Mushroom
4. Bacon

People sure do love meat on their pizza but don’t worry veggie lovers’, mushrooms cracked the top 3 to represent all the veggies left behind. 

It’s no surprise that pepperoni claims the top spot on this list. Some people think that when ordering pizza that getting a plain pizza means with pepperoni. Even the emoji for pizza has pepperoni on it.   

Sausage is the milder and the sweetest of all the meat toppings. Sausage coming in at number 2 is no surprise. If you’re not into the spice of the pepperoni than you’ll probably choose sausage if you want meat on your pizza.

Bacon rounding out the top 4 is no shocker either as people love bacon with anything.  Just look through the web for bacon-flavored items and you’ll find a lot of surprising bacon duos people are selling like bacon ice cream, bacon soda, bacon toothpaste, bacon soap amongst other things.
